The Alt. Media Festival is an online film festival showcasing and discussing the light and dark sides of social media today in the medium of short films. The aim of this project was to allow people to access the digital festival via a website so people can submit their own short films expressing their view of social media today, or their own unique experience, whether that was positive or negative. The video work produced was to advertise the festival on various social media platforms, such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram & Snapchat.
This was so I could reach my target audience more directly on the platforms they use most, and attract them to the website to watch existing social media short films, or create their own. The basis of website was to start an online discussion about social media, and how we use it today, whether we have gone too far in society with social media by becoming too addicted to it, or how social media plays a large role in mental health and how we perceive ourselves online to our peers. The Alt. Media Festival stands for sharing, discussing and understanding the vital tool of our age.
